Gotham Star Promises Season 5 Will Deliver Tons Of Easter Eggs

Gotham will come to an end after its upcoming fifth season. The 10-part run will have its work cut out for it, too, in wrapping up all the many plot threads that have built up over the years and making sure every character ends up where they are in the usual Batman mythos. Just in time for David Mazouz's Bruce Wayne to take to the rooftops and become the hero that the city needs right now.

Basically, the show has got to deliver on everything the fans have been waiting to see for the past half-decade. And, according to star Ben McKenzie, this will be true on even a smaller level, as he’s promised that Gotham season 5 will include many easter eggs as with the end in sight, it’s now or never.

“I’m not sure how much I can say about them but they definitely will be there. I will put it this way, a lot of the questions we get asked at comic cons like ‘when you gonna do this, when you gonna do this.’ Well, right now! Right damn now we’re gonna do them because we don’t have anymore time.

Having said that, McKenzie was keen to point out that the run won’t just chuck in everything but the kitchen sink as the “No Man’s Land” arc has allowed the writers to introduce a lot of new elements into the series which will leave viewers happy.

“We’ve run out of time so we might as well throw it in at the end there. In a reasonably well constructed way. I don’t think we’re just throwing things at the wall we’ve created- I think John Stevens and the writers have created a pretty great- not just template in No Man’s Land for sort of all hell to literally and figuratively break loose but also a plan throughout those 10 episodes to sprinkle in all those things the fans want to see in a way that pays off. A way that doesn’t just seem like lip service that actually feels like it’s part of the 98 episodes we would’ve done in the course of five years.”

Already, we know what a lot of the more headline-grabbing fan-pleasing elements will be. For one, the grand series finale has been confirmed to flash forward ten years into the future, which will allow for an appearance by the Dark Knight himself – complete with a metallic, TDKR-style suit. Along the way, we’ve also got the introduction of Bane and – yes – Jim Gordon’s familiar facial hair.

Gotham season 5 is a little way off yet, as it’s not due to return to FOX until early 2019, but be sure to stay tuned as more updates arise.
