The Internet Reacts To Marvel Cancelling Iron Fist

Yesterday, Marvel and Netflix dropped the bombshell that they've decided to cancel Iron Fist, meaning the recent second season of the show will be its last. It was a surprising announcement for many reasons, most of all because season 2 was much better than the first so it seems like a shot in the foot to cancel it now.

Yesterday, Marvel and Netflix dropped the bombshell that they’ve decided to cancel Iron Fist, meaning the recent second season of the show will be its last. So, how did Marvel fans react to the adventures of Danny Rand – the immortal Iron Fist, the protector of K’un-Lun, sworn enemy of the Hand – coming to an end? Well, it’s fair to say there were some mixed responses.

On the one hand, many loyal MCU viewers really enjoyed the show and are crushed that the Iron Fist will glow no more.

Others, however, were pretty indifferent about the whole thing.

Finally, some were over the moon that the series, widely viewed as one of the weakest entries in the MCU, will be joining Inhumans in Marvel TV heaven.

Regardless of where you fall on this scale of reactions, we can all agree that what we want next is for Marvel and Netflix to greenlight a Daughters of the Dragon spinoff show starring Luke Cage‘s Simone Missick and Iron Fist‘s Jessica Henwick. After all, a team-up between Misty Knight and Colleen Wing has been teased since The Defenders.

The Iron Fist season 2 finale ended things on a massive cliffhanger. Colleen now had the power of the Fist while Danny was adventuring around Asia with some chi-powered guns. Meanwhile, Typhoid Mary was still on the loose and Davos was decreeing that he’d come back for revenge. That’s a lot of plot threads to leave dangling, so hopefully at least some of them will be picked up in a few of the other Marvel/Netflix shows.

While we await more news on the future of the Iron FistDaredevil season 3 arrives this Friday on the streaming service, and you can read our review here.
