The moment the team’s about to split up has now been revealed via this sneak peak at the upcoming outing. In it, the clearly emotional Doctor puts off saying goodbye to her friends…until Yaz invites her around her house for dinner to which she immediately jumps at the chance!

Of course, this is a familiar situation for fans who’ve been watching since David Tennant’s days. The Doctor’s companions often decide to visit their hometowns for a break from their adventures and in doing so think about returning to their normal lives. However, the promise of seeing more of the universe is usually too much and they jump back on board the TARDIS by the end of the episode. We don’t see that happen in this clip, but we know that the trio will eventually change their minds and stick around for the rest of the season.

From what we understand, “Arachnids in the U.K.” will see the TARDIS team “find something is stirring amidst the eight-legged arachnid population” of Sheffield. On the new character front, we’ll also meet Yaz’s family, as Shobna Gulati’s joining the cast as the companion’s mother. That’s another thing that calls back to the Tennant years, as the companions’ families were always a big deal in those days.

Airing the Sunday before Halloween, hopefully this episode will be Doctor Who‘s own spooky seasonal special, and anyone who’s arachnophobic will definitely want to watch this one from behind the sofa.
