“We ride together, we die together… Bad Boys for life.”
Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are officially back in business, as Martin Lawrence has joined Bad Boys 3Â (official title: Bad Boys For Life) alongside fellow series stalwart Will Smith.
The fast-talking duo haven’t been seen together since the release of Michael Bay’s Bad Boys sequel back in 2003, which means it’s taken *checks calendar* a full 15 years for Lawrence and Smith to reunite as Miami’s finest boys in blue. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will both be calling the shots from behind the lens, after the creative pair replaced Joe Carnahan in the director’s chair(s). Writer Chris Bremner is responsible for the film’s current screenplay.
Suffice it to say, it’s been a long and meandering journey for Bad Boys For Life, during which time major question marks were raised over Martin Lawrence’s potential involvement. Well, it seems the actor has now silenced the doubters via Instagram, writing:
It’s official. Bad Boys for Life. #teammartymar #badboysforlife @willsmith #weback
Word is that Bad Boys For Life begins at a time when Lowrey and Burnett are no longer partners – one remains in the Miami narcotics department, while the other pursues life as a private investigator. But as fate would have it, Lawrence and Smith’s lawless lawmen are forced to bury the hatchet after the sins from the past come back to haunt them. Essentially, a crime lord whose brother was killed by Lowrey and Burnett all those years ago places a bounty on their heads, leading to all sorts of blockbuster action.
Bad boys, bad boys, what you gonna do? What you gonna do when Bad Boys For Life finally hits theaters on January 17th, 2020? We’ll leave that one to you…
