Doctor Who Fans Are Going Crazy Over Season 11’s Adorable New Alien

The latest episode of Doctor Who has now aired in the U.K. - and it starred the most adorable alien around since Baby Groot. Season 11 episode 5, "The Tsuranga Conundrum", saw the Doctor and her friends try to save a medical spaceship from being attacked by a tiny little critter called a Pting, which could eat literally anything it got its teeny hands on.

The latest outing of Doctor Who has now aired in the UK and it starred the most adorable alien around since Baby Groot. Season 11 episode 5, “The Tsuranga Conundrum,” saw the Doctor and her friends try to save a medical spaceship from being attacked by a tiny little critter called a Pting, which could eat literally anything it got its teeny hands on.

It’s fair to say the creature was the highlight for many fans in what was otherwise a mediocre outing. Apart from its cherubic features, some just thought it was hugely relatable given that it has an “all-you-can-eat” diet and gets a little cranky when its meals are interrupted. And below, you’ll find just a sampling of what folks are saying about the little guy on Twitter.

Others, meanwhile, thought the Pting reminded them of another adorable alien from a classic sci-fi show. Namely, Nibbler from Futurama, who was also known for his huge appetite.

On the other hand, some said the Pting more closely resembled Disney’s Stitch. House of Mouse lovers will remember that the Lilo & Stitch character was a genetically-engineered alien lifeform originally intended to destroy. So, maybe this episode was a secret Disney/Doctor Who crossover and the Pting was one of Stitch’s cousins?

Even the cast of Doctor Who couldn’t get over how cute the Pting was. Yaz Khan herself, Mandip Gill, took to Twitter to say how much she’d like to cuddle the little guy.

Finally, this fan summed it up best, as the Pting would no doubt be every Whovian’s must-have item this Christmas!

While we’re used to Doctor Who trying to send us behind the sofa with its monsters, not make us hug the screen, this isn’t the first time the show’s served up cute aliens. David Tennant fans will remember the 2008 episode “Partners in Crime” in which London was run amok with the Adipose, adorable babies made out of fat. The Pting would definitely win in that fight though, as he’d just eat the Adipose!

Tell us, what did you think of tonight’s episode of Doctor Who? And do you want a Pting for Christmas? Have your say in the comments section down below.
