Bryan Cranston Would Absolutely Return For Breaking Bad Movie

While Bryan Cranston has previously mentioned that he’d be open to returning to returning to Breaking Bad if offered, this question has usually come across as little more than hypothetical. But in light of recent reports that the beloved show will be making the jump to cinemas, this possibility has suddenly become a lot more palpable, and from the sound of things, the actor is still very much game.

But in light of recent reports that the beloved show will be making the jump to cinemas, this possibility has suddenly become a lot more palpable, and from the sound of things, the actor is still very much game.

Speaking on The Dan Patrick Show, the star admitted that he hasn’t yet seen a script for the movie, leaving him to wonder, just like the rest of us, if Walter White will be gracing our screens once more.

“There appears to be a movie version of Breaking Bad, but I honestly have not even read the script… I have not gotten the script, I have not read the script,” Cranston said. “So there’s question of whether or not we will even see Walter White in this movie.”

Nonetheless, Cranston sounds like he’d have no hesitation about reprising his role if show creator Vince Gilligan ever asked.

“I would, I would. Absolutely. If Vince Gilligan asked me to do it, sure, absolutely,” Cranston said. “He’s a genius, and it’s a great story. And there’s a lot of people who felt that they wanted to see some kind of completion to some of these storylines that were left open. And this idea, from what I’m told, gets into those, at least, a couple of the characters who were not completed as far as their journey.”

Since Walter seemed very dead in the show’s 2013 season finale, fans would likely cry blasphemy if the movie dared to retcon this moment. Still, we can’t rule out the possibility that the antihero will appear once more in flashbacks, especially if the current rumor that the film will continue Jesse Pinkman’s story turns out to be legit.

In any case, the feature is said to begin shooting in New Mexico this month and is currently going under the name of “Greenbrier,” though this may only be a temporary title. According to the original report from The Albuquerque Journal, the film will follow “the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom,” which admittedly sounds vaguely reminiscent of Jesse’s situation near the end of the show’s run.

At the moment, Gilligan and the team at AMC aren’t giving us a lot of details to work with, but if all we’ve heard so far is true, then we could be looking at a Breaking Bad movie as soon as late next year.
