Sounds Like The Cyborg Movie Could Be Back On Track

The disappointing commercial performance of Justice League will probably be looked back on as a pivotal moment for the DCEU, putting previously planned projects like a standalone Cyborg movie in jeopardy and prompting Warner Bros. to rethink their Marvel-esque cinematic universe model. Every now and then, however, fans find a new reason to believe that Ray Fisher could some day reprise his role, with the latest potential tease coming from the Twitter account of The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez.

This recent post takes an excerpt from the comics, in which Victor Stone seemingly dies, only for an “unknown operating system” to “commence stabilization and regeneration.” Though we’re still waiting for Gonzalez to clarify what he means by this tweet, it’s not hard to see why some fans are taking these panels as a hint that news of a future Cyborg project could be on the way.

For anyone hoping to see Victor to grace our screens once more, it’s probably best not to get your hopes up quite yet, but Fisher has long made it clear that he’d be open to coming back to the DCEU. In particular, the actor would be keen to reunite with director Zack Snyder, telling DC World a couple of weeks ago:

“I did know about being a part of Justice League. Zack explained what the overall plan for me was at the time and that there was the potential of a Cyborg standalone down the line. Assuming the story would be grounded and compelling, I’d love to do a solo film. I think Cyborg has the potential for a superhero film unlike any we’ve seen before. If Zack were to ever come back to direct another DC film, he’d be my top pick to direct.”

Though Fisher explained last month that Snyder originally had a very different vision in mind for Cyborg in Justice League, he still claims to be happy with how the movie turned out. And while there are a lot of viewers out there who’d disagree with him on that matter, there are also plenty who are still hoping that one flop won’t be enough to expel Victor Stone from this ever-rickety cinematic universe.
