Ryan Reynolds Calls Hugh Jackman Selfish For Not Doing Wolverine/Deadpool Team-Up

Hugh Jackman has lately been doubling down on his commitment to leave his Wolverine days behind, with recent interviews seeing the star dismissing the possibility of a Deadpool crossover in particular. And given Ryan Reynolds’ ongoing fixation on making this team-up happen, it comes as no surprise to see that he isn’t taking these developments well.

The star of Wade Wilson’s two standalone films shared a Screen Rant article on Twitter with the headline, “Hugh Jackman Rules Out Wolverine Return For Deadpool Team-Up.” In his post, Reynolds offered the following tongue-in-cheek response:

“I see [Hugh Jackman] is no longer allergic to selfish.”

And so the ongoing social media feud between these two X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-stars continues.

While Reynolds may not have the nicest things to say about Jackman these days, the Australian actor has shown some support for the Merc with a Mouth’s recent run of success. In an interview with MTV News, for instance, The Front Runner star compared watching the first Deadpool movie while he was already halfway out the franchise to learning that they’ve just put on a great song at a party you left, explaining that a little part of him perhaps wanted to return for the fun, but the timing sadly wasn’t right. Nonetheless, Jackman urged his old friend Reynolds to “dance away. Go for it.”

Naturally, fans and associates continue to try to change the actor’s mind. Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, for instance, recently pleaded his case via Instagram for a Wade/Logan team-up, citing some of his own works as examples of stories that could be adapted. Reynolds, meanwhile, seemed to set his sights on a more realistic goal earlier this year, stating his intentions to get Jackman to play himself in the upcoming X-Force movie.

It’ll probably be a while before we hear any further news on that idea, but in the meantime, Wade Wilson has found another co-star in Fred Savage, with Once Upon a Deadpool running in cinemas for two weeks from December 12th.
