Despite all of its divisiveness, I believe the DC Extended Universe existing on the motion picture side of things has had its merits. But as a longtime lover of characters originating from that publisher, I must admit I’ve been much more satisfied by what’s been accomplished on TV during the last decade. Hey, when people are capable of redefining Green Arrow and the Flash in a shared continuity bringing obscure heroes and villains such as Firestorm and Agent Liberty to brilliant life, I’m guaranteed to enthusiastically applaud.
Furthermore, it must be acknowledged how Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and the rest of the creative minds behind the Arrowverse have brought concepts into the live action realm which were previously pipe dreams. Over the past few seasons, we’ve been witness to invading Dominators, Nazi doppelgangers hailing from Earth-X and, this fall, the much anticipated “Elseworlds” crossover.
In the past 24 hours alone, we’ve been treated to a surprise prologue to the event showing the Monitor seemingly laying waste to Earth-90 during the closing moments of Supergirl, not to mention one awesome banner uniting the major players. This time, though, we’re here to talk about a behind-the-scenes image shared by Stephen Amell on Twitter, which can be viewed below.
As you can see, Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl is joined by Amell, who’s suited up as the Flash for the scene from which they’re taking a break. Not only that, but Grant Gustin once again gets to strut his stuff as the Emerald Archer – and in front of the Bat-signal, no less. If you were to ask me, there are few inanimate objects in fiction that are more iconic.

EPIC ELSEWORLDS CROSSOVER KICKS OFF TONIGHT — When Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Oliver Queen (guest star Stephen Amell) wake up one morning and realize they have swapped bodies with each other, the two set off to find out what disturbed the timeline to cause such a shift. However, things quickly go from bad to worse when they present their case to Team Flash and the gang doesn’t believe them. Barry and Oliver realize they need Supergirl’s (guest star Melissa Benoist) help and travel to Smallville on Earth-38 where they end up meeting Kara’s cousin, Clark Kent (guest star Tyler Hoechlin), and intrepid reporter, Lois Lane (guest star Elizabeth Tulloch). LaMonica Garrett guest stars as The Monitor. Kevin Tancharoen directed the episode written by Eric Wallace & Sam Chalsen.
“Elseworlds” begins on Sunday, December 9 with The Flash, continues on Monday, December 10 with Arrow, and wraps up on Tuesday, December 11 with Supergirl.
