The Flash kicked things off with a hilarious body-swap episode in which Barry Allen and Oliver Queen had to come to terms with the fact that they’d swapped identities over night. Fans loved everything about Barry and Oliver – but which is which? – dealing with their Freaky Friday/Quantum Leap situation, and took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the first part of the event.

To get some help in working out what had happened to them, the dynamic duo then jumped over to Earth-38 – specifically, the Kent farm in Smallville. This turned out to be a real treat for Smallville fans as the location used was the same one from the Superman prequel show, and they even played the iconic theme tune over top of the scene.

Everyone also loved Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane, as well as Barry finally getting his revenge on Oliver for when he shot him with an arrow in the first ever Arrow/Flash crossover.

The highlight of the episode though had to be when the Arrowverse trinity teamed up with Superman to take down the android Amazo that was causing havoc in Central City. It was awesome to see all the heroes combine their powers to defeat the evil robot and felt like a scene pulled straight from a classic comic book or cartoon.

On the whole, one fan summed up the appeal of the first part of “Elseworlds” best, saying:

The end of the episode teased that the heroes are headed next to Gotham city, marking the first time the legendary DC location has featured in the Arrowverse. What’s more, Batwoman will be there to greet them, so you’d best make sure to tune in when “Elseworlds” continues with Arrow later tonight on The CW.
