In a promo released last month for the Audi e-tron GT concept, Robert Downey Jr. himself pretty much confirmed the not-so-surprising news that Tony Stark will make it back to Earth in Avengers: Endgame when he mentions that he’ll be driving the aforementioned car in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel. But while most of us had more or less assumed already that Iron Man would find some way of escaping his drift through space, the bigger question was always how exactly Tony is saved from his gloomy little ship, and it seems that Audi, once again, may have provided the answer.
As part of their presentation at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, the company has announced a partnership with Marvel to create a virtual reality experience that will allow fans to journey through space from the backseat of the e-tron GT. The name of the game? “Marvel’s Avengers: Rocket’s Rescue Run.” And though it remains to be seen who exactly Rocket is rescuing, and whether the game’s story even has all that much to do with the events of Endgame, there’s definitely reason to believe that this might be a genuine spoiler.
For one thing, the fact that this is being labelled as an Avengers game rather than a Guardians of the Galaxy game suggests that we can expect some connections with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. What’s more, after the events of Infinity War, Rocket will likely be very keen to find out what happened to his old Benatar ship and the crew members who once boarded it, and it seems perfectly plausible that the raccoon would have some way of tracking the spacecraft.
As a matter of fact, there was even a fan theory that got a little traction last month which alleged that Rocket would be the one to save Tony (albeit, in collaboration with Pepper Potts), so there’s definite precedence for this suggestion. Nonetheless, we’ll find out if this is just another red herring when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
