We’re just a few months away from witnessing Clint Barton’s long-awaited return to the MCU by way of Avengers: Endgame, and it looks like things are finally starting to wind down for Jeremy Renner on the set of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel.
The Hawkeye actor took Instagram yesterday evening with a behind-the-scenes photo, along with a message indicating that the star’s period of reshoots is nearing its end:
“Wishing you all a wonderful weekend …. almost done on set !!!”
Renner isn’t the only cast member to hint in this past week that the Endgame reshoots are currently in their final stretch, with Nebula actress Karen Gillan taking to Twitter a few days ago to say that she’s “Washing the blue from under [her] fingernails one more time.” Incidentally, for a slightly more spoiler-y reveal, Zoe Saldana shared a couple of videos of herself in Gamora makeup around the same time, indicating that the late Guardians of the Galaxy lead had a little more footage to shoot.
Anyway, going back to Renner, while Marvel Studios has been characteristically stingy with their Clint Barton material, last month’s trailer pretty much confirmed the longstanding rumor that the character would be suiting up in his moody new Ronin persona. Though it remains to be seen what exactly inspired our hero’s change in style, the most popular prediction by far is that all or some of Clint’s family was killed in the universe-wide Decimation that concluded Infinity War.
Regardless, we’ll know for sure what put Clint in such a bad mood when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019, but after that, don’t be surprised if Hawkeye still has a future in Marvel’s Phase 4.
