To understand how we got to this point, we must journey back to the latest episode of The Titan Games, in which a hammer-wielding Johnson proposed a fight scene between himself and the God of Thunder, which of course ends with Hemsworth’s character losing. Johnson then doubled down on this idea via social media while coming up with the hashtag #ThorHitsTheFloor.

Hemsworth, however, responded to Johnson’s challenge by suggesting a less violent crossover scenario, tagging the actor in the following tweet:

“When you say Thor hits the floor I assume you mean the dance floor right? A remake of dirty dancing?! Mate I’m in!! #Nobodyputsrockinthecorner”

The message came with a picture reimagining one of the most famous scenes of Dirty Dancing with The Rock and Thor in the lead roles.

We can all dream that this project will some day get the green light, but for now, these two stars seem to have plenty else on their plate. Johnson, for instance, will be serving as one half of a very different pair-up when Fast and Furious spinoff Hobbs and Shaw hits theaters on August 2nd, 2019, and is even set to assume his own comic book persona with the DCEU’s Black Adam solo movie, which may begin filming later this year.

As for Hemsworth, the Australian star will assume the role of Thor at least one more time in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, which is set to hit theaters on April 26th, before making his debut in another major franchise when Men in Black: International comes out on June 14th.
