Chiwetel Ejiofor Addresses If Mordo Survived Avengers: Infinity War’s Snap

Avengers: Infinity War infamously ended with half of the population of the Marvel Cinematic Universe being wiped out by Thanos' apocalyptic finger snap. Ever since then, fans have been wondering which MCU characters that we didn't see in the movie managed to survive and one fate that hasn't been previously explained is Baron Mordo, as last seen in Doctor Strange. So, did the Sorcerer Supreme's former friend turned enemy make it out?

Avengers: Infinity War infamously ended with half of the population of the Marvel Cinematic Universe being wiped out by Thanos’ apocalyptic finger snap. Ever since then, fans have been wondering which MCU characters that we didn’t see in the movie managed to survive and one fate that hasn’t been previously explained is Baron Mordo, as last seen in Doctor Strange. So, did the Sorcerer Supreme’s former friend turned enemy make it out?

It seems that Chiwetel Ejiofor knows the answer to that question but he’s not going to let it slip any time soon. The actor was asked by MTV’s Josh Horowitz if Mordo was one of the 50% that were left unaffected by the Decimation. In response, he laughed off the question, saying: “Um, we are going to have to watch the movie when it comes out.”

After Horowitz clarified that he was talking about Infinity War, not the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, Ejiofor doubled down on his answer, adding: “I know. Yeah, I get what you’re asking. I’m saying we’re going to have to watch the movie.”

Horowitz again confirms that the star is talking about Endgame, to which Ejiofor replies: “Yeah, exactly. Or, you know, or generally, just you know. I mean there’s no point me telling you all the things that happened.”

So, what do we make of the actor’s comments? Well, he does a great job of deflecting the question, but presumably Ejiofor’s hinting here that he might just turn up in Endgame. Alternatively, he could also be saying that we’ll get an answer to whether Mordo survived in Doctor Strange 2, which is reportedly in development, so Ejiofor should know whether his character’s in it or not.

In fact, there could be a whole bunch of the Doctor Strange cast in Endgame, if reports are to be believed. Benedicts Cumberbatch and Wong are definitely set to appear, with Tilda Swinton rumored to return as the Ancient One, too. But will Mordo also join the reunion in the Avengers: Infinity War sequel? We’ll find out when it hits theaters on April 26th.
