Flash Barry season 5

Barry And Ralph Go Undercover In New Photos From The Flash

It wasn't that long ago when speculation of a Green Lantern villain appearing in the thirteenth episode of The Flash's current season began swirling. Once it was announced that said adventure would be titled "Goldfaced," it forced those familiar with more obscure DC villains to think we'd soon be introduced to a live action version of, well, Goldface.

As of right now, the jury’s still out on that one, but what we can share are a number of freshly released photos promoting that very episode. In fact, they hint at some of Central City’s greatest heroes having to make some morally questionable decisions.

Once you begin perusing the gallery below, you’ll quickly notice that, yes, Barry Allen and Ralph Dibny are going undercover in the criminal underworld in order to get their hands on a device that may aid in the battle against Cicada. Perhaps Barry could use his recent experience gained during the “Elseworlds” incident which saw he and Oliver Queen become “the Trigger Twins” at one point.

Also of note is Iris West-Allen actually venturing alone into Cicada’s home. I don’t know what you think, but this has to be one of her riskiest moves to date. If anything’s for certain, it’s that the big bad’s dialogue will likely have all of the subtlety and nuance of anything recorded for the original Resident Evil video game.

For more info, be sure to check out the official synopsis:

BARRY AND IRIS EACH TAKE DANGEROUS STEPS TO STOP CICADA — Barry (Grant Gustin) and Ralph (Hartley Sawyer) must go undercover as criminals in an illegal black market to purchase a device that could help them stop Cicada (Chris Klein). Once inside, Barry and Ralph find their morality tested as they slip deeper into the criminal world, eventually having to choose between committing a crime, or losing the means to defeat one of their greatest foes. Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) investigates a lead on Cicada’s whereabouts and ends up in a dangerous situation. Alexandra LaRoche directed the episode written by Jonathan Butler & Gabriel Garza (#513).

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights on The CW, with “Goldfaced” set to grace our screens on February 5th.
