Apex Legends Has Now Hit 25 Million Players

Proving that it simply cannot be stopped, Respawn has now announced that Apex Legends has hit a whopping 25 million players since release.

Unless your video game console has been sitting on the shelf inactive for these past few days, you’ll probably have heard of (and likely already played) Apex Legends, the intense new battle royale game that comes to us courtesy of Respawn Entertainment.

If that name rings a bell, it should; they’re the same folks who brought us the Titanfall series, from which Apex Legends was born. And let’s just say that their latest effort has really hit the ground running like a fleet-footed pilot about to call in their Titan from orbit. So much so, in fact, that it actually passed Fortnite on Twitch during its incredible launch week.

But the good news doesn’t end there, as it seems there’s just no stopping the momentum that’s propelling Apex Legends. Why, you ask? Well, because since launch, the game has reached 25 million players. Taking to the EA website to reveal the news, Respawn’s Vince Zampella said:

We’re also thrilled to announce that since last Monday, more than 25 million players have jumped into the game, and over the weekend we had well over 2 million concurrent players at our peak. Like I said earlier, what a week!

From everyone here at Respawn, thank you. The community’s excitement for Apex Legends is electric, and we feel it here at the studio. We couldn’t have gotten where we are without you and look forward to having you on this journey with us.

Also in Zampella’s announcement was the mention of some limited-time Valentine’s Day themed loot, which you can look out for later this week, and a reminder that Season One gets underway in March. In other words, there’s much to get excited about in the near future if you’re already finding yourself enjoying the game.

Of course, there’s still a long way to go if Apex Legends is to cement its place at the top of the proverbial food chain, but already it’s looking like this might be the title to dethrone Fortnite. And with tons of in-game content still to come (Solo and Duo modes are seemingly next in line), it’ll be interesting to watch as studio’s Titanfall spinoff continues to find its feet.
