Apex Legends Will Soon Have Solo And Duo Modes Added

Apex Legends has quickly established itself as the multiplayer shooter of the moment, amassing more than 10 million players since its launch last Wednesday. There's even some speculation that it could finally be the one to dislodge Fortnite from its lofty throne, though I suspect there's quite a bit of life left in Epic Games' world conquering masterpiece yet.

Regardless, it’s still early days for Apex Legends and while the developers have absolutely nailed the gameplay fundamentals, there’s a notable lack of options when it comes to choosing the way in which you play. But, thanks to some crafty data-miners at @ApexUpdate, it seems as if that’s soon to change.

As you can see below, players have discovered evidence that Respawn plans to implement both Solo and Duo play (i.e. one and two-man squads). The game’s currently limited to three-man squads, which seems a bit strict in comparison to its competitors in the market, so adding Solo and Duo play would certainly make sense.

These modes also come hot on the heels of another hint that we’ll soon get a Ranked Mode. This would be a godsend for the more serious players and perhaps a hint that Respawn has visions of Apex being a future fixture on the eSports circuit.

All that being said, we should bear in mind that the game hasn’t even been out for a week yet, with publisher EA appearing to have been caught slightly off-guard by its instant popularity (which might come back to bite them in the ass when Anthem is released). Whatever happens next though, Apex Legends seems poised to have very long legs, so any rumored additional modes will no doubt be given intense consideration in-house for fear of screwing up the secret formula.

Still, I’d love to see what I could accomplish in the game in a one-man squad. Not to mention it’d give some of the astonishingly talented high level Twitch streamers even more of a way to show off their skills.
