Bening was recently a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where she confirmed that, as per the old theories, she’s indeed playing the Supreme Intelligence. The show also aired some footage, viewable above, in which the leader of the Kree race warns “Vers” that she struggles with her emotions and the past that fuels them, before reminding her of the threat posed to their people by the shapeshifting Skrull.

But while Marvel Studios has finally opened up about Bening playing the Supreme Intelligence, they still seem to be concealing a twist or two regarding the actress’s role. In fact, based on what we’ve heard previously, the Intelligence is actually taking on the form of another important figure from Carol’s past.

Regardless, it’s only a couple of weeks now until filmgoers can find out what further secrets Captain Marvel has to yield. In the meantime, the movie continues to generate a strong buzz, with the film currently tracking for a solid opening weekend and garnering some glowing responses from early viewers on social media. You can judge for yourself if Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s pic is worth all the hype when it arrives in theaters on March 8th, 2019, before Carol joins up with her superhero peers when Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26th.
