Hard as it may be to believe, it’s been nearly three years since Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice stormed theaters. And though the historic mashup ultimately proved divisive and the DC on film landscape morphed into something much different than originally intended, the Zack Snyder-directed flick remains a hot topic for discussion.

What certainly helps with keeping BvS on the minds and tongues of fans and media alike is how we’re still periodically gifted with artwork and trivia pertaining to the movie’s production. As you may have figured, Snyder can’t stop sharing never-before-seen photos, not to mention eagle-eyed viewers keep uncovering various Easter eggs.

Our latest treat (seen below) comes to us by way of concept artist Jerad S. Marantz’s Instagram page. If you’ve taken the time to venture over there, you may have seen one of his latest posts showing a Batman who’s seemingly ready to take on any sort of threat – be it Earthling or Kryptonian.

Here’s how Marantz summed up this valiant effort that never made its way to screen:

“One of my earliest concepts for #batmanvsuperman. Costume designer @michaelwilkinson wanted to see a wide range of concepts before we got the direction to do a classic “Dark Knight Returns“ costume. This was my high tech version.”

Though I’m unsure if Jerad looked to video games for inspiration, I can’t help noticing how the costume being discussed today looks like a hybrid of those featured in Batman: Arkham Knight and Injustice: Gods Among Us. Then again, the former just mentioned came out well after BvS completed its conceptual stage.

Tell us, do you prefer this rendition, or are you satisfied with the costume Ben Affleck ultimately donned in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice? Actually, this could’ve been used as the basis for his armored suit in Justice League, so maybe we got this best of both worlds in the end. Either way, feel free to post your thoughts in the comments section below.
