Smallville Actor Down To Return In Crisis On Infinite Earths

Even though he’s currently playing Cyborg’s father, Silas Stone, over on DC Universe’s Doom Patrol, it sounds like Phil Morris is more than willing to find the time to reprise his role from Smallville. As you may recall, he won many of us over during his turn as the Martian Manhunter when the Superman prequel series originally aired.

Seeing as how Crisis on Infinite Earths was one of the biggest – if not THE biggest – crossover event in the history of DC Comics, it stands to reason that The CW intends on living up to the legacy. As such, many Arrowverse fans are expecting that the multiverse be generously explored, as John Wesley Shipp’s Flash from Earth-90 already appeared during the “Elseworlds” prime time extravaganza.

If all works out, then maybe we can see Dean Cain suit up as Superman once again or, fingers crossed, a handful of Smallville veterans show up to the party. The aforementioned Phil Morris is down for such a thing, telling the following to Kryptonsite when asked about the subject:

“I love John Jones. I just thought he was so fantastic, so the short answer is ‘yes,’ I would revisit John Jones in a heart beat, and lend his humanity – even though he is from Mars – and his abilities to the proceedings. If they were to ask, I would show up in a heartbeat, my brother.”

Not only would this be tremendous fan service, but you have it admit how it’d be cool to see Morris teaming up with David Harewood, who’s currently playing the Martian Manhunter on Supergirl. Hey, one of the most exciting things about multiversal mashups is seeing characters encountering alternate versions of themselves.

Regardless of whomever’s on the guest list, it’s probably safe to say the Arrowverse won’t be the same following “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” Much like the classic comic penned by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by George Perez, we’re expecting for major deaths to occur. Heck, we could even see the birth of one, streamlined universe as the source material once laid out. Stay tuned as more develops.
