New Avengers: Endgame Synopsis Says The MCU Will Be Rewritten

It’s now been over five weeks since an Avengers: Endgame TV spot aired during the Super Bowl, and in all this time, Marvel Studios has yet to release any further footage from the Avengers: Infinity War sequel. Nonetheless, the internet has continued to yield fresh reports, leaks and various other material teasing the adventure to come, one of the latest examples being a new synopsis that seems to have originated on the Atom Tickets website.

While there’s every possibility that this description is a mere placeholder until Marvel Studios releases an official synopsis, there are still a few potential hints in the text that may be worth a little analysis. For what it’s worth, the full summary reads as follows:

Thanos snapped his fingers in Avengers: Infinity War, and half the life in the universe instantly dissolved. Now a ragged group of surviving warriors, including Captain America, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, and the Hulk works to counteract the Mad Titan’s genocidal action.

Since our heroes couldn’t stop Thanos the first time, what makes them think they can win in a rematch? The answer may be in overwhelming power, thanks to Captain Marvel, or in the tiniest spaces between atoms accessible to Ant-Man. Avengers: Endgame will rewrite the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. When it’s all over, nothing will be the same.

Again, it’s unclear whether this description came from Marvel or is just an original synopsis created by Atom Tickets, but fans are already finding some meaning in the suggestion that the movie “will rewrite the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it.” Though it’s long been assumed that Marvel’s Phase 3 finale will bring some big changes to the MCU, this text seemingly offers the latest of many teases that reality itself may somehow be altered, perhaps by way of the oft-rumored time travel plot.

As for the suggestion that Captain Marvel might be the one to turn the tide against Thanos, Carol Danvers herself practically said as such in the footage that recently screened for Disney shareholders. The mention of Ant-Man, meanwhile, ties in with the longstanding assumption that the Quantum Realm will play an important part in the upcoming film.

In short, even if this synopsis is 100% official, it still doesn’t tell us a huge amount about the movie that we couldn’t work out already, but we’ll find out just how Earth’s Mightiest Heroes intend to win their rematch when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
