Arrow’s Stephen Amell Apologizes To Dave Bautista For Twitter Comment

Now that spring is right around the corner, WWE fans are naturally gearing up for WrestleMania. For over three decades, said event has been viewed as the Super Bowl of the professional wrestling industry. Not only does it often serve as the culmination of various feuds and crowns at least a few new champions, but celebrity appearances are always a certainty as well.

One man who toes the line between wrestler and movie star these days is that of Dave Bautista. Having gone on to appear in films such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Spectre since putting full-time brawling behind him, it’s considered must-see TV whenever he does make a surprise return. In fact, Batista (don’t forget, his ring name jettisoned the “u”) is expected to add another chapter to his storied history with Triple H in just a few weeks on “the grandest stage of them all.”

Oddly enough, this served as the catalyst for somewhat of a Twitter feud with Arrow star Stephen Amell. Being a WWE fan himself, here’s what the Emerald Archer first posted on the social media platform that generated some controversy:

“Just landed and found out about @DaveBautista v @TripleH — Really pumped for the match but also don’t want to see a celebrity angle detract from an awesome wrestling card.”

Before we further explore Amell’s perspective, let’s take a look at Bautista’s cantankerous response:

“Considering that celebrity could actually fuck someone up, and that celebrity is a former 6x heavyweight champ, and that celebrity is there because he loves it, maybe it just adds to the card. Maybe.”

Though it wasn’t too hard to take Stephen’s initial Tweet out of context, he clarified things for good measure with the following:

“Hey Dave — I went out of my way to introduce myself to you in Atlanta at a convention so I could tell you what a big fan of yours I am. You couldn’t have been more pleasant. My tweet was meant to poke fun at me. It clearly wasn’t funny. Please don’t kill me.”

With that evidence in front of us, it’s quite apparent that Amell was having fun at his own expense by giving a thinly veiled reference to his match at WWE’s SummerSlam a few years back. In the time since, he’s actually gotten in the ring on a few more occasions, only those bouts took place in other promotions.

Arrow airs on Monday nights on The CW.
