That being said, some fans may still be surprised at just how well the movie is doing. Earlier today, ticketing site Fandango announced that Endgame had beaten the record previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens for highest pre-sales in the first 24 hours. But if that wasn’t impressive enough, Fandango’s Erik Davis has since clarified that the film managed to beat this 24-hour record in just 6 hours. That’s right, Endgame only needed a quarter of a day to top The Force Awakens’ pre-sales for its entire first day.

The signs were certainly there that Anthony and Joe Russo’s upcoming film was going to do insanely well in its early sales. For one thing, various ticketing sites have been overwhelmingly flooded with traffic for much of today, causing some sites to crash. Before that, the film was the subject of some exceptionally high box office projections. Researcher Exhibitor Relations, for instance, has forecast a domestic opening weekend haul of $282 million, which would beat the all-time record held by Infinity War.

Speaking of which, Fandango has now updated their list of the top five 24-hour pre-sale titles, which currently sees Anthony and Joe Russo’s last film at the number five spot. Meanwhile, second, third and fourth place are all occupied by Star Wars films – namely, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and Rogue One, respectively. The fact that Avengers: Endgame has managed to surpass all these titles with ease bodes very well for the pic’s release, but we’ll find out what further records the movie can break when it arrives in theaters on April 26th.
