Lauren Cohan Says She’s Definitely Not Done With The Walking Dead

Lauren Cohan left The Walking Dead five episodes into season 9, the very same episode that Andrew Lincoln said goodbye to the series. Unlike Lincoln, however, Cohan has not ruled out returning to the show as Maggie Rhee. The actress previously promised as much but now she's stated that she's "definitely not done" with the post-apocalyptic drama.

Lauren Cohan left The Walking Dead five episodes into season 9, the very same installment that Andrew Lincoln said goodbye to the series. Unlike Lincoln, however, Cohan has not ruled out returning to the show as Maggie Rhee. The actress previously promised as much but now she’s stated that she’s “definitely not done” with the post-apocalyptic drama.

While speaking with EW on their radio show, Cohan was asked if she would return in season 10, as has been much discussed before. The star could neither confirm nor deny anything but she did say she’s “excited” by the various possibilities that would be opened up by her return to the TWD world.

“We’ll see what happens. There is definitely a lot of exciting ways [for it to happen]. And the universe, I’m still very much a part of it. And it’s not over. So, for me, that’s exciting. And I get so excited because we talk about different possibilities.”

Cohan could be meaning storytelling possibilities here. After all, Maggie’s absence has been explained away by her having left the Hilltop during the six-year time-jump to start a new community elsewhere with Georgie and her group. So, it would be very interesting to have Maggie return all these years later and discover what’s changed in the meantime.

Alternatively, the actress might be alluding to the fact that her comeback doesn’t have to be limited to the parent show. AMC has big plans to expand the TWD franchise in the near future, not least Lincoln’s trio of TV movies that will follow on from his last appearance. We’ve previously reported that a Maggie spinoff could be in the works, too, but given Cohan’s reluctance to return as a regular, we wonder if this idea has grown into a potential spinoff movie instead.

Regardless, we’ll keep you updated as more on Cohan’s future with The Walking Dead comes to light.
