What’s more, the cast and crew were also in attendance to offer further insight on the first live-action Star Wars TV series. Showrunner Jon Favreau, for instance, discussed his intention to explore a unique period in the franchise timeline.

“If you look throughout history, it’s fun at first, but it gets very complicated quickly,” Favreau explained. “The idea of the world after The Return of the Jedi and what would happen and what sort of characters would survive, and what it was like until the new Republic took over. You have vestiges of the Empire. You have only the strong surviving. You have chaos taking over the galaxy.”

Amidst this chaos, you’ll find the Mandalorian, played by Pedro Pascal. While the Narcos and Game of Thrones actor was hesitant to give too much away, he compared his character to the heroes of westerns and samurai films.

“I don’t know what I can say and what I can’t say,” Pascal said. “The Mandalorian is a mysterious, lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy. Some might say he has questionable moral character, which is in line with some of our best westerns, some good samurai. All the good stuff. He’s a badass.”

Joining Pascal for the upcoming series is Gina Carano of Haywire and Deadpool fame, who was on hand to shed some light on her character Cara Dune.

“She’s a former Rebel shock-trooper,” Carano explained. “I’m a bit of a loner, and I’m having a bit of trouble re-integrating myself into society.”

Another key player is Greef Karga, played by Rocky actor Carl Weathers, who’s apparently set to do a little business with Pascal’s character.

“He’s a guy who’s running this group of bounty hunters,” Weathers said. “He’s looking for someone to go after a product that he wants to bring in to a client. It’s worth a lot, very valuable. Guess who he finds? He finds a bounty hunter named Mandalorian … he hires this guy, sends him out there, and Mando does what needs to be done.”

Right now, little is known for sure about the nature of this valuable “product,” but for what it’s worth, a report from last year just might fill in a few blanks. Making Star Wars relayed word back in December that the show’s title character is sent to kill a baby, which he instead ends up saving. From here, it’s said that the story revolves around our hero’s efforts to save the child and their evolving relationship. Such claims have yet to be confirmed, but all will be revealed when The Mandalorian comes to Disney Plus on November 12th, 2019.
