Marvel Comics Announces Wolverine Vs. Blade

Throughout the history of comics, there have been some rather interesting crossovers. Funny enough, the characters I most associate with this practice are Batman and Archie. Whereas the Dark Knight has met the likes of Spawn, Judge Dredd, Alien and Predator, Archie Andrews has crossed paths with the Punisher and KISS, and has even had to deal with a Sharknado. Oh yeah, he, too, has also had a run-in with the Predator.

All that awesomeness aside, some of the most oddball pairings can actually come via in-house mashups. Though Wolverine and Blade technically occupy the same universe, they’re not often characters whom I’d mention in the same breath because they’re so different from each other.

Regardless, that hasn’t stopped the House of Ideas from assembling Wolverine vs. Blade Special #1, which’ll hit shelves before you know it. Set to be penned by X-Men Gold scribe and Arrowverse producer Marc Guggenheim, the can’t-miss tale will be illustrated by Dave Wilkins. In fact, you can view the cover art below.

Now, you’re probably wondering why Logan is wearing his old X-Force getup, but the following statement from Guggenheim will likely clear things up:

“This is a book that’s been — not kidding — ten years in the making. I couldn’t possibly be more excited for it to finally see publication. I think it’s worth the wait.”

Beyond that, Marvel themselves haven’t offered much in the way of additional information, though there is this brief synopsis to share (it’s nearly impossible not to hear Stan Lee’s voice while reading it):

Two of the deadliest hunters ever to have stalked the night face off! Wolverine vs. Blade — ’nuff said!

Wolverine vs. Blade Special #1 arrives in comic shops this July.
