Chris Hemsworth Says Avengers: Endgame Is Where The Original Six Finish Up

With Avengers: Endgame so shrouded in mystery, it's hard to work out whether we'll see any of the MCU's Big Three ever again after this. While we're confirmed to be getting more of Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff thanks to the Black Widow movie, there's no further appearances Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Hemsworth currently on the slate.

So, could this be it for Captain America, Iron Man and Thor? Well, that’s certainly the impression that both Evans and Downey have given in interviews about Endgame and now, Hemsworth is suggesting the same thing. When talking about playing the God of Thunder again, the Australian star was definitely more positive about the chance but maintained that Avengers 4 is where everything comes to an end.

“I’d play this character for as long as anyone would let me. I’ve loved it so much. But the combination of this many characters in this Phase Three, as Marvel calls it, you’ll never have this interaction with this many people again. Who knows what the future holds and whether they do prequels and sequels or whatever, I’d be open to anything. But right now, this is where we finish up.”

If we’re dissecting Hemsworth’s comments correctly, it seems like Marvel’s planning to perhaps rest Thor for a while, but Hemsworth isn’t ruling out a return sometime in the future, meaning there’s a possibility we could get that Thor 4 with Taika Waititi that we all want. At the very least, we know it’s been discussed, as Ragnarok’s Tessa Thompson has revealed as much.

If the actor isn’t ruling out more from Thor though, we can presumably infer that the Asagardian Avenger survives the end of Endgame. Then again, this is the Marvel universe, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for Thor to die and then be resurrected somehow later down the line if Hemsworth was free to do another movie.

As for the other two of the trinity, Evans has heavily suggested he’s suited as Cap for the final time while Downey has admitted that the future of the OG Avengers is very uncertain. Maybe it’ll become a little more clear though when Avengers: Endgame lands in theaters on April 26th.
