“We’re probably going to die soon. I want to know what it’s like before that happens.”

If you tuned in for last week’s episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones, and we imagine you did if you’re reading this, those words should sound familiar, as they prefaced Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Gendry’s (Joe Dempsie) steamy sex scene, which was certainly one of the biggest talking points amongst viewers once the credits rolled on “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.”

Indeed, it wasn’t long before social media began freaking out over Williams’ age and with many saying they felt a bit uncomfortable watching her getting it on with Gendry – given that we’ve basically seen her grow up on the show over the past few years and all that – the actress has now responded with a pretty hilarious reply, saying the following over on Twitter:

She’s got a good point there, and though it might have been uncomfortable for Williams to know that her family watched the scene, she feels that it was still necessary to do, as it helped humanize Arya. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the actress explained:

“It was really interesting because it’s a very human relationship for Arya. This is something she’s stayed away from, an emotion we’ve never really seen her engage with. David and Dan were like, ‘It’s the end of the world, what else would you have her do?’ This may be is a moment where Arya accepts death tomorrow, which she never does — ‘Not Today.’ So it was that moment where she says, ‘We’re probably going to die tomorrow, I want to know what this feels like before that happens.’ It’s interesting to see Arya be a bit more human, speak more normally about things people are scared of.”

Circling back to the Battle of Winterfell, though, and it seems the Night King has already identified his target as Game of Thrones season 8 quickly makes its way towards its fiery crescendo. We’ll give you a clue: he’s no longer a man, but a curious, all-seeing bird with three eyes.

Yes, HBO’s hit fantasy series returns this week with what’s sure to be an action-packed episode, and just like last week, you can bet that there’ll be lots to talk about once those end credits roll.
