Avengers: Endgame Director Wants To Make A Batman Movie

Avengers: Endgame marks the Russo brothers' fourth movie for Marvel Studios, after they cut their teeth on the franchise with 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The filmmakers have maintained that they're ready to take a break from the MCU for a little while, after being Marvel's premier directors for the past five years, but would they move on to DC instead? And if they did, which character would they pick to direct?

This was what Joe Russo was asked during Game Over: An Evening with Joe Russo, a Q&A event helmed by ComicBook.com. In response to the question, the director revealed that he collected Batman comics as a kid so he’d have to go with the Dark Knight.

“As far as what I collected as a kid, I collected Batman. [That] was one of the DC characters I collected. So it would have to be Batman.”

The mainline Batman franchise is currently being shepherded by Matt Reeves, who’s been busy working on The Batman for a while now. The last we heard, the Planet of the Apes alumni is finally ready to go, with production due to start in December. The only thing is, he doesn’t have a Dark Knight yet, with the reveal of the much-anticipated casting recently held back once again.

We’re pretty sure that if the Russos went to DC and offered their services, Warner Bros. would be happy to have them. After all, the studio has a history of working with Marvel filmmakers once they’ve said goodbye to the House of Ideas – Joss Whedon reshot Justice League and James Gunn is making The Suicide Squad, a job he took on after he was temporarily let go by Marvel.

Would you like to see a Russo-directed Batman movie, though? Or should they stick with Marvel after Avengers: Endgame? Join the conversation in the comments section down below.
