Anthony Mackie Thinks The Falcon And Winter Soldier TV Show Will Be About Life After Cap

While Avengers: Endgame served as a finale in more ways than one, the future of the MCU is looking busier than ever, between the various films lined up for Marvel’s Phase 4, and the first batch of small screen adventures scheduled for Disney Plus.

One such spinoff is the Falcon and Winter Soldier TV show, and now that the Endgame spoiler ban has been lifted, it seems that Anthony Mackie is finally at liberty to share a few thoughts on the project. Speaking to IMDb, the actor claimed that he hasn’t seen a script or his new costume yet, but he did speculate a little on what to expect, hinting that it’ll probably be set after Endgame as it’ll explore “life after Captain America.”

“I haven’t read anything, I haven’t seen a new suit, I haven’t seen anything. What I’m guessing…Bucky and I going off on a whirlwind adventure to save the world and find life after Captain America.”

As you’re likely aware by now, the final minutes of Endgame see Steve Rogers pass on his shield to Falcon, marking Sam Wilson as the MCU’s new Captain America. In all likelihood, then, the upcoming Disney Plus series will show Sam settling into his new identity and trying to live up to his predecessor.

Earlier this month, Sebastian Stan shared some thoughts of his own about the Falcon and Winter Soldier series when he was a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, comparing his experience of working with Mackie to “riding a psychotic horse in a blazing stable.” Hopefully some of that volatile chemistry will carry through into the show, though as it stands, there’s very little we can say for sure about the spinoff.

For what it’s worth, the rumor earlier this year was that Falcon and Winter Soldier would be a spy thriller in the vein of Captain America: The Winter Soldier that may even feature Nick Fury in some capacity. Either way, all will be revealed when the series premieres on Disney Plus.
