Mephisto Will Reportedly Be The Villain Of The Ghost Rider TV Show

A new corner of the MCU is about to open up over on Hulu. Netflix might have cancelled the Defenders-verse, but at least Disney seems to be working on developing a new, supernaturally-themed, superhero team for their rival streaming service.

Earlier this month, it was announced a Ghost Rider TV series was coming, starring Gabriel Luna as the Robbie Reyes version of the character he first played on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Alongside this, Helstrom is also in the works, focusing on Daimon and Ana Helstrom. Comics readers will know that they’re the son and daughter of the devil himself in the comics, but the TV versions have so far been described as the offspring of “a mysterious and powerful serial killer.”

Satan might not be appearing in these Hulu horror-infused shows then, but one of his most dangerous demons could be instead. We Got This Covered has been told by our source that fans should expect Mephisto to appear in both Ghost Rider and Helstrom. We’ve been informed that he’ll definitely feature in the shows, with it being likely that he’s playing the role of the main villain.

It was recently rumored that Hulu is working towards teaming up Ghost Rider and the Helstroms, probably with more characters as well, for a Spirits of Vengeance crossover series. If that’s the case, it would make sense for Mephisto to be the big bad that’s so powerful they have to face him together. That’s just some speculation on our part, though.

For those who don’t know, Mephisto’s one of the most evil beings in the Marvel universe and has featured in many prominent stories over the years. Not least, he played a key role as Thanos’ right-hand man in The Infinity Gauntlet. If you’ll recall, a loose interpretation of the character, conflated with Lucifer, previously appeared in the two Nicolas Cage Ghost Rider movies, portrayed by Peter Fonda and Ciaran Hinds, respectively.

Not a lot’s officially known about what Hulu and Marvel have planned for these characters just yet, but it sounds like Marvel fans should be very excited for what’s to come and once we learn more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
