Even though it may have relied on complicated time travel mechanics, it’s hard to take issue with how Avengers: Endgame turned out. The Russo brothers’ masterpiece manages to, somehow, wrap up storylines that kicked off over a decade ago, bringing together plenty of key characters for one final showdown, and providing satisfying conclusions for a few major players.
Still, for every epic action sequence and gut-wrenching twist, there were more than a few tearjerking and melancholy moments. While Black Widow’s sacrifice will not be forgotten for some time to come, it’s perhaps Tony Stark’s death that packs the biggest emotional punch. Although his passing was necessary in order to ensure the end of Thanos and his forces, it doesn’t make the sting any more palatable, and we’ll be sure to see how Peter Parker and co. are dealing with it all once Spider-Man: Far From Home hits theaters in a few weeks.
And, of course, who could forget Thor, who ended up a sloppy, overweight, beer-drinking bum. Reactions have been decidedly mixed, with some embracing it, while others accused the film of fat-shaming. Aside from his questionable choice of footwear for Tony Stark’s funeral, we thoroughly enjoyed seeing the famous Asgardian in a new light, and it looks like Chris Hemsworth had fun taking on the role, as evidenced by one of his latest social media posts.
As reported by the Daily Express, Hemsworth took to his Instagram account to share a fake magazine ad, which was drawn up by Fandom. The advert shows “Fat Thor” as the spokesperson for “Asgard’s No 1 selling weight-gain regimen,” complete with before and after shots.
“With the help of pizza, beer and Fortnite, I GAINED the coveted ‘one-pack’ ab faster than a stroke of lightning. My co-workers tell me to cut back, I say ‘This beer, I like it, ANOTHER!!!'” the ad reads.
Thankfully, it seems Thor’s appearance in Avengers: Endgame won’t be forgotten anytime soon, much to the dismay of young teenagers and housewives around the world. And considering the lengths Hemsworth went to in order to keep the character in the film, we certainly hope he has a chance to reprise the role down the line. Asgardians of the Galaxy, anyone?
