Next year, Dwayne Johnson may finally start to shoot the long-awaited Black Adam movie, which will mark the Fast and Furious star’s DCEU debut. But in recent weeks, there’s been a lot of chatter surrounding the possibility of the actor also landing a role in the MCU.

And now, our trusty tipster “Roger Wardell” is adding more fuel to the fire, taking to Twitter yesterday to share the following update on the situation:

The Rock’s “Marvel role” is just another Vin Diesel situation, trying to build hype to get a meeting with Marvel.

Of course, no one knows exactly who this “Roger Wardell” is at the moment, but given he’s been right about almost every scoop he’s dropped so far, we have no reason to doubt he knows what he’s talking about. And furthermore, we’ve also confirmed with our own sources that the actor’s indeed interested in getting into the same room with Kevin Feige and co.

But what we’ve been told as well is that Marvel’s interested in Johnson, too. The two parties are incredibly busy and that’s why they haven’t had time to meet yet, but there’s definitely interest on both sides of the fence, leading us to believe something may happen soon.

In any case, all we can do for now is wait and see if Johnson and Feige’s meeting eventually materializes. Either way, though, the actor has chosen a pretty opportune time to speak to the folks at Marvel Studios. After all, now that Anthony and Joe’s latest effort has brought some closure to the arcs of many of the major heroes, the franchise has a few superhero slots left open.

Whether or not there’s any room in the MCU for The Rock still remains to be seen, of course, but in the meantime, the beloved actor will return to our screens this summer with Hobbs & Shaw on August 2nd.
