Chewbacca Actor May Be Teasing That Solo: A Star Wars Story 2 Is Happening

Solo: A Star Wars Story might not have made as big a splash as Lucasfilm were anticipating when it arrived in May last year, but Star Wars fans are still hoping for a sequel. In fact, there's been a huge campaign on social media ever since the film's anniversary a couple of months ago to get Disney to greenlight a follow-up that continues the adventures of Alden Ehrenreich's young Han.

In fact, there’s been a huge campaign on social media ever since the film’s anniversary a couple of months ago to get Disney to greenlight a follow-up that continues the adventures of Alden Ehrenreich’s young Han.

But has the campaign finally paid off? Well, fans are now theorizing that a cryptic tweet from Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo might be pointing to it. In response to an IMDb post asking folks to name their favorite “I did not see that coming” moments, Suotamo commented “All of my next movie, but shhhh,” along with a laughing emoji and the hashtag #keepthemontheirtoes.

Now, the Star Wars actor could simply be referring to this December’s The Rise of Skywalker, which is obviously shrouded in secrecy. But isn’t it interesting that Suotamo doesn’t refer to his next movie by name? Maybe this means he’s talking about the next film he’s shooting instead? Which might just be Solo 2.

Suotamo has certainly been a vocal supporter of the #MakeSolo2Happen campaign, sharing his own wishes for a sequel on his social media accounts of late. If something had happened on that front, then you can be sure that he’d be pretty excited – excited enough to tease that the project might be a go to his fans. But again, this is all just fun speculation for the moment.

For what it’s worth though, director Ron Howard also seems keen to return to helm another movie with these characters, as he’s engaged with fans over the campaign a couple of times as well. On the other hand, our intel points to Lucasfilm’s plans for the Solo: A Star Wars Story franchise morphing into new TV projects for the Disney Plus streaming service. For instance, Darth Maul playing a role in an Obi-Wan Kenobi show.

For now, we’ll just have to wait and see what comes next, but tell us, would you be interested in watching a sequel? Let us know in the usual place down below.
