Rob Zombie has officially blown the lid off his upcoming threequel 3 From Hell, and it keeps looking better and better the more we see of it.
Kicking off the summer with a bang, Zombie sent horror fans into a tizzy just last month with a delightfully tantalizing teaser trailer, which offered a quick glimpse into the twisted world of his follow-up to The Devil’s Rejects. And though many are already sold on the idea of 3 From Hell, the musician-cum-filmmaker has now given us another preview, and this one’s a lot more meaty, showing off some of the gruesome violence that the threequel will no doubt deliver in spades. Not to mention a better look at its impressive cast, which is headlined by Sheri Moon Zombie, Sid Haig and Bill Moseley.
As the third installment in a decades-spanning horror series that began with 2003’s House of 1000 Corpses and continued with The Devil’s Rejects, there’s certainly a lot riding on the pic and it’s good to know that Zombie’s already teased that it’ll be very different to its predecessors, saying that he won’t be just “retreading the same movie for a profit.”
Plot-wise, things are still a bit hazy, but the above trailer does offer up a few teases, even if it still holds back on telling us exactly how the gang survived the shootout at the end of The Devil’s Rejects. But that’s perfectly alright because, after all, where’s the fun in ruining all the surprises?
Also starring Austin Stoker (Assault on Precinct 13), Dee Wallace (The Howling, Cujo), Dot-Marie Jones (American Horror Story) and Tom Papa, among others, 3 From Hell will get a limited run in theaters this September and we’re already counting down the days till it arrives. Are you?
