Apart from all the fluorescent visuals and awe-inspiring spectacle, Thor: Ragnarok will always be remembered for being an inventive and often laugh out loud funny reinvention of Marvel’s Norse god.

That doesn’t mean the previous two Thor movies were bad (though they weren’t particularly memorable), it’s just that the God of Thunder never really got the film he deserved in the MCU’s early years. But then Taika Waititi entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the rest, as they say, is history.

The New Zealand filmmaker brought an infectious energy to Ragnarok, something that Thor and The Dark World were seriously missing, and it resulted in one of the very best movies of 2017 – comic book or otherwise. But where does the franchise go from here?

Well, Endgame left Thor with the Guardians of the Galaxy, teasing his involvement in Vol. 3, but what everyone’s really wondering is are we getting a Thor 4? Thankfully, the answer to that question is yes, it’s definitely happening. And not only is it happening, but Waititi will return to both write and direct the sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Of course, Hemsworth will be back as well to reprise his role as the God of Thunder and though plot details are non-existent at this early, early stage, we imagine we’ll get some sort of announcement this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con. After all, Marvel’s set to storm Hall H on July 20th and reveal their full Phase 4 slate, and with Waititi now officially on board, it’s very likely the studio will break the silence on Thor 4 in just a matter of days. Even if they don’t though, just knowing that it’s happening is hugely exciting and as soon as we learn more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
