Stranger Things Star Reveals Which Star Wars Character He’d Like To Play

Gaten Matarazzo of Stranger Things fame dreams of one day playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in a future Star Wars movie. Lucasfilm, are you listening?

He’s battled otherworldly monsters and forged a life-long friendship with Steve Harrington himself, but it seems Gaten Matarazzo still has one or two things on his to-do list.

Chief among them is the chance to play Obi-Wan Kenobi in a future Star Wars film, after the Stranger Things star told IMDb that he wouldn’t think twice about portraying Obi-Wan on the big screen. Keep in mind that Matarazzo is just 16 years young, and is fantasizing about a future scenario in which the Powers That Be over at Lucasfilm select him for the part – hell, he even went so far as to say that he’d still consider the role even if he was, like, 75.

It seems the actor’s love of Star Wars – and Obi-Wan, in particular – knows no bounds.

When I’m older, I want to play Obi-Wan. Like if it ever–they shouldn’t remake any Star Wars movie, they shouldn’t do any remakes, but if they ever remake the originals, nah-uh, but if they asked me to be Obi-Wan, I’m totally on board. Like, if I’m like 75, and they’re like, ‘You wanna do this?’ I’m like, yeah, heck yeah, I’m totally doing it, even if I don’t agree with them making a remake. I would totally wanna be Obi-Wan.

Lucasfilm, are you listening? Truth be told, the company is already said to be making serious headway with a spinoff TV series based on Obi-Wan Kenobi, with Ewan McGregor himself expected to star. Seemingly in the works for Disney Plus, expect to see that one emerge from the depths of production sometime next year.

Meanwhile, Gaten Matarazzo can be seen battling monsters and cracking top-secret Russian codes in Stranger Things season 3, which is now streaming over on Netflix. When, exactly, we can expect the inevitable fourth season is still subject to debate, but a late 2020 release window is looking increasingly likely.
