Grant Gustin Teases How Crisis On Infinite Earths Affects The Flash Season 6

If the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" prime time crossover event is to be anything like the comic book on which it's based, then it'll most definitely change the Arrowverse landscape forever. After all, why adapt such a beloved story arc if it's not going to cause some lasting seismic shifts?

Now, if it makes sense for any DC show to be majorly affected, I’d have to say The Flash should be it. Hey, it was this particular series that first introduced the “Crisis” concept to live action all the way back in its pilot episode in the first place. And in the time since, we’ve received teaser after teaser after teaser.

In fact, according to lead actor Grant Gustin, everything that’s been built since 2014 will be paid off, as he told Entertainment Weekly the following:

“Moving toward the crossover, we’re going to see the impact [losing Nora] is going to have on the future. We’re also going to find out more about the ‘Crisis’ headline in the [future] newspaper and why that date changed [in the season 5 finale], if the date changed. Heading toward the crossover we’re going to be dealing with that.”

Beyond that, executive producer and new showrunner Eric Wallace laid out how season 6 will be structured as a result of all this jazz:

“We found really unique ways to make the season fresh that we never expected, thanks to ‘Crisis.’ This season is really divided up in a way that the episodes before the crossover are pre-‘Crisis’ episodes. Then the back half of the season is all about dealing with the fallout from the events of ‘Crisis.’”

With that, we advise that you keep watching this space. Remember, the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel goes down on Saturday, July 20th, so there should be much more to discuss in a matter of days. We’ve already seen Barry Allen’s new costume, so bring on the new big bad already!

The Flash returns with new episodes on Tuesday, October 8th on The CW.
