New Star Wars Comic Will Explore How Ben Solo Became Kylo Ren

Eager to know more about how Ben Solo descended into darkness and became Kylo Ren? You may wanna' pay attention to a new Star Wars comic releasing in December.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: 2019 has all the makings of a banner year for Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars franchise.

From Galaxy’s Edge to The Mandalorian to a little-known sequel called The Rise of Skywalker, it feels as though the Powers That Be are truly pulling out all the stops as they prepare for a historic year in Star Wars history. Up first was the launch of the Galaxy’s Edge theme park back in May – word is the Millennium Falcon ride has already flown 1 million passengers through hyperspeed – before The Mandalorian makes its big premiere on Disney Plus in November.

But closer to Christmas we have the release of Episode IX, The Rise of Skywalker, and it seems Disney has plans for several tie-in comics to stoke excitement for December 20th. Among them is the official four-part Allegiance series, which serves as the official prelude to The Rise of Skywalker. And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, comic book scribe Charles Soule yesterday informed the Star Wars faithful that he’s developing The Rise of Kylo Ren, a new comic set to deep dive into the murky origins of Adam Driver’s dark prince.

He’s the grandson of Vader and tempestuous child of Leia and Han Solo, which only makes The Force Awakens finale all the more tragic. Nevertheless, this upcoming comic winds back the years further still – to a time when Kylo was still going by the name ‘Ben Solo.’

Here’s what Soule had to say:

As just announced, I am writing THE RISE OF KYLO REN – a limited series comic launching in December, just before Episode IX. You know the one story everyone’s dying to see, about Kylo and the Knights of Ren? That’s this. You’re not ready (hell, I barely am.).

According to Soule, The Rise of Kylo Ren will hit store shelves in December – just in time for the grand release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
