To expand upon its release of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon last week, Namco Bandai Games has revealed a new video that gives gamers a glimpse behind the scenes of the game’s development. Included within is a talk with the project’s Executive Director, Kazutoki Kono.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is an aerial action shooter that has players battling it out in a variety of different types of aircraft. This includes helicopters, which make an appearance for the first time in the series. Players travel to real-world locations and play through a story written by New York Times best-selling author Jim DeFelice which features new, more intense action.
In this video, which can be seen below, Kono discusses why Assault Horizon wasn’t called Ace Combat 7. He also discusses the approach taken to this “rebirth” of the series thanks to the Project Aces team.
While I enjoy playing the occasional flight sim or aerial combat title, the Ace Combat series has been one that never really appealed to me like I would have hoped. The changes made to the combat and overall gameplay in Assault Horizon really do peak my interest though. Plus, its story sounds like it could be worth checking out.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 now.
