There've been reports about a Hawkeye series coming to Disney Plus for a while now, but we didn't get official confirmation it would be happening until last night's Marvel Studios panel at Comic-Con. Alongside the announcement of their Phase Four line-up, Marvel unveiled the five new TV shows coming over the next 2-3 years, one of which will see Jeremy Renner suiting up again as the Avenging Archer.

Not only that, but Clint Barton will also be training up an apprentice in the series as it’s been revealed that Kate Bishop will make her debut in Hawkeye. Fans have been waiting for the teen most known for taking over Clint’s mantle in the comics to appear in the MCU for a while now so it’s thrilling to know that she’s coming very soon. Unfortunately, however, there’s no news yet on who’s playing her.

Renner came on stage in Hall H last night to tease the ins-and-outs of his own Disney Plus show, explaining that it will get to the heart of who Hawkeye is and what he stands for. He also shared a quick animated teaser for the series, which you can see below.

“What I get to do in the show ultimately is shepherd an amazing character, ultimately a better version of me and the sentiment of that is the fiber of what Hawkeye is, at least what I think Hawkeye is — a superhero without superpowers and I get to teach someone else to be a superhero without super powers.”

Marvel chief Kevin Feige also promised that Hawkeye would touch on Clint’s dark days as Ronin, as seen in the early part of Avengers: Endgame when the hero started killing criminals across the globe after grieving the loss of his family.

Before we get to Hawkeye though, we’ve got a few other MCU Disney Plus shows coming first. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series kicks off the trend in August next year, with WandaVision, Loki and the What If? animated show all following in 2021.
