Tom Cavanagh Will Play A Key New Role In Crisis On Infinite Earths

The Flash's Tom Cavanagh has played a range of characters across his time in the Arrowverse so far. Well, it's mostly been different versions of the same character, Harrison Wells, but he's also the past and present face of Reverse-Flash, too. And for the upcoming crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths," Cavanagh will get yet another new role to play. And this time, they're a key figure from the comics.

Speaking at The Flash panel at Comic-Con over the weekend, showrunner Eric Wallace revealed that the actor will be playing Pariah in the “Crisis” event, who works for the big villain of the piece, the Anti-Monitor (LaMonica Garrett).

“As part of ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ crossover, not only will Tom be playing the two character we heard here, he will also be playing Pariah as part of the crossover, He works for the Anti-Monitor.”

In the source material, the tragic character (real name Kell Mossa) is a scientist whose anti-matter experiments unfortunately draw the Anti-Monitor’s attentions to Earth. He’s spared by the big bad though and is granted the power to travel between multiverses. It sounds like things will be much the same in the TV adaptation of the storyline, too, as Wallace continued:

“In the original miniseries, it’s Pariah who is very much integral in releasing the Anti-Multiverse. For Tom to play such a pivotal character… it’s just going to tear your guts out and make you cry.” The reason behind Cavanagh’s new role, which will be revealed at the end of the first “graphic novel,” will “lead up to a very, very big twist at the end of the Bloodwork case that launches ‘Crisis.”

Of course, “Crisis” is set to feature another Arrowverse mainstay in a second role. None other than Legends of Tomorrow’s Brandon Routh who’ll be reprising his turn as the Man of Steel for the first time since 2006’s Superman Returns. In particular, his version will be inspired by the Kingdom Come take on the hero.

Worlds will live, worlds will die when the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” unfolds this fall on The CW.
