The Fantastic Four’s MCU Origin Story Has Reportedly Been Revealed

Ever since the Fox-Disney merger went through, Marvel fans have been wondering how the X-Men would be folded into the MCU. As interesting as it is to think about how mutantkind will be established in the franchise, it's worth thinking about how the Fantastic Four will be brought onboard as well. We know for certain that they are on their way, thanks to Kevin Feige's mention of them at Comic-Con this weekend.

Ever since the Fox-Disney merger went through, Marvel fans have been wondering how the X-Men would be folded into the MCU. As interesting as it is to think about how mutantkind will be established in the franchise, it’s worth considering how the Fantastic Four will be brought onboard as well. After all, we know for certain that they’re on their way, thanks to Kevin Feige’s mention of them at Comic-Con this weekend.

In fact, according to one source, Marvel’s got an origins story in mind for the First Family that will draw inspiration from characters already seen in the MCU. Cosmic Book News writes that they’ve been informed that the Four will be established as being around in the 1960s, contemporaries with the original Ant-Man and the Wasp.

So, where have they been all this time? Well, Reed, Sue and the rest will allegedly have been stuck in the Negative Zone for decades. When they finally escape they’ll find themselves in the present-day, but without having aged. If Marvel do go with something like this, it’d be a blend of Captain America’s origins and Janet Van Dyne’s storyline.

CBN speculates that this way of bringing the Fantastic Four into the franchise could also introduce Annihilus – the evil ruler of the Negative Zone – as the next big bad, which is something our own source has informed us could happen. In fact, Mark Hamill might even be voicing the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

The site does say that this plan could change in the time before the Fantastic Four reboot actually gets underway, though. It’s been speculated that the new movie could arrive in Phase 5, so perhaps it could hit cinemas in either 2022 or 2023.

Tell us, though, do you think this would be a good way to introduce Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman and the gang into the MCU? Have your say in the comments section down below.
