The-Suicide-Squad-Sequel

The Suicide Squad Will Reportedly Be Told From The Villain’s Perspective

If there's any improvement James Gunn could make over 2016's offering with his version of The Suicide Squad, it'd be that of the antagonistic villain of the piece. Admittedly, I did enjoy a variety of aspects of David Ayer's flick, but the Enchantress did kind of fall flat.

At the time of this writing, said antagonist has yet to be revealed, but Cosmic Book News says they’ve learned that the film “will be told from the perspective of the villain and/or will be a ‘villain’ movie.” Furthermore, it’ll supposedly satisfy both DC and Marvel fans, so I’m guessing it’ll be tonally similar to what Gunn has previously done with his two Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Let it be known that CBN drew a parallel to how Avengers: Infinity War was very Thanos-centric, so perhaps we’ll see something similar with The Suicide Squad‘s big bad. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting kind of antsy to find out who it may be.

Something else worth noting is that the report is the latest to refer to this picture as “a soft reboot.” For some time, I’ve been drawing parallels to Batman Forever, which, if you’ll recall, was technically a sequel to Tim Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns – but it reshot the Dark Knight’s origin and nixed the idea that he kills. With Gunn’s production featuring several returning actors such as Margot Robbie and Jai Courtney, I’d expect for him to just hit the ground running with little to no reference to what came before. In other words, you know who Task Force X are and what they do, so sit back and enjoy the ride.

The Suicide Squad arrives in theaters on August 6th, 2021. That said, it’s advised you keep watching this space as more develops. Before you know it, cameras will begin rolling and we’ll have much, much more to share.
