We know what Routh would look like with the altered KC Superman logo on his chest, then, but what about how he’ll appear in the full costume for the darker take on the character? BossLogic is on the case, as ever, and has created this awesome piece of fan art.

Depicted with a black and red color scheme, greying hair and dark patches under his eyes, is this what Routh’s Man of Steel may look like in “Crisis”? It very well may be.

Kingdom Come’s Superman is a disillusioned older iteration of the Last Son of Krypton who’s retreated from the world after the death of Lois Lane and the rise of a militant new generation of superheroes. Fans are wondering, then, whether Routh’s version will be the same one he played in Superman Returns or just his doppelganger. Either way, it should be fascinating to see Routh portraying different aspects of the hero. Given the nostalgic nature of Returns, the actor was basically doing a Christopher Reeve impression last time but now he can put more of his own stamp on it.

Routh won’t be the only Superman in the crossover though, as Tyler Hoechlin is reprising his Earth-38 Supes. Likewise, Elizabeth Tulloch and Jon Cryer will be back as Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, respectively. If this didn’t tell you already, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” is shaping up to be a must-see for DC fans across the multiverse. The five-part event stretches across both quarters and kicks off later this year on The CW.
