AMC Drops First Promo For New Walking Dead Spinoff, Premieres Spring 2020

With two shows under their belt, AMC is looking to expand The Walking Dead franchise with another new show, which is set to premiere early next year.

Even though their flagship show already has nine seasons under its belt, it looks like AMC is deadset on expanding and growing their TV adaptations of The Walking Dead, despite the fact that the Robert Kirkman-created comics ended earlier this month. To date, there are close to 200 episodes between the main series and Fear The Walking Dead, and AMC shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

A few months ago, we reported on an entirely new series, which, to this day, still has no official name or working title. The upcoming show will be female-led though and reportedly focuses on an entirely different generation of survivors, one which grew up during the zombie apocalypse – a stark contrast to the many characters who had a life before the outbreak took hold.

Unfortunately, plot details are scarce, though we know a bit of information about the cast, which includes Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu and Hal Cumpston. Some fans might know Mansour from her appearance in Unfriended: Dark Web, while cartoon junkies will recognize Cantu for his role as Gumball on The Amazing World of Gumball.

The Walking Dead New Show

We’re still waiting to catch a glimpse of actual footage from the show, but it looks like AMC has put out a first-look preview. As Bloody Disgusting reports, this brief teaser – seen up above – shows off concept art, interspersed with appearances from some of the actors, including Mansour, Cumpston and Cantu. It’s not entirely clear exactly when this new series is set, so there’s always a chance that some characters from one of AMC’s other shows will make a cameo appearance to tie everything together as well.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of The Walking Dead on the horizon. For those who’d rather stick to the original series though, you might want to focus your attention on the upcoming movies, which will apparently feature the return of Rick Grimes.
