You’ve seen First Blood, and watched with bated breath as Sly Stallone’s John Rambo tore through a small town, but next month, the Powers That Be will blow the lid off Rambo V: Last Blood. And with it, a hard R actioner the likes of which we haven’t seen in a very, very long time.

True to its name, it’ll herald the triumphant return of Stallone as the titular Vietnam war veteran, who is dragged back into the firing line when the daughter of a close friend goes missing. It’s a simple, yet effective motivation for Rambo, who finds himself crossing the U.S.-Mexico border to lock horns with a dangerous drug cartel.

What makes Rambo such an enduring character, though, is the fact that he’s still haunted by the ghosts of the past. All that time spent in Vietnam has clearly scarred our burly action hero, so it should come as no surprise that he’s somewhat reluctant to emerge from his self-imposed exile.

Stallone, on the other hand, couldn’t be happier that the Rambo franchise is gearing up for a brand new installment (hell, he’s even been hinting at the possibility of a sixth movie should Last Blood light up the box office). But for now, you can catch Sylvester Stallone sporting his signature scowl in today’s brand new poster for Rambo V.

The bow, the scowl, the muscles… it’s all there, really, and we can’t wait to see if the end product lives up to the hype. One thing’s for sure: this being a Rambo movie, there will be blood. Lots and lots of blood.

Rambo V: Last Blood tears into theaters on September 20th. And yes, this really is the final chapter in the John Rambo saga, so expect Stallone’s super-charged series to go out with a big, big bang.
