The moment ensured that Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder would be one of the most talked about entries in Marvel’s Phase 4 slate, but with the film still over two years away from release, fans were left wondering exactly how the God of Thunder’s old hammer might make a comeback. According to a new (and potentially spoiler-heavy) report from FandomWire, however, the answer lies in the upcoming Loki show.

For his last couple of films, Thor’s weapon of choice has been the Stormbreaker axe, after his trusty hammer was destroyed in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. And while our hero managed to acquire another Mjölnir from an alternate timeline in Avengers: Endgame, his friend Captain America later returned the weapon to its own reality.

In short, the main MCU timeline is currently without a Mjölnir, but fear not, because the highly anticipated Loki show apparently has a fix for that. As you may’ve heard already, the Disney Plus series will follow the version of Loki that escaped with the Tesseract in the 2012 sequence of Endgame. At the end of the show, FandomWire relays word that the trickster will use his Infinity Stone to travel into the main timeline, setting up an appearance in Love and Thunder. What’s more, it said that Thor’s brother will be taking his timeline’s Mjölnir with him, allowing Jane Foster to wield the weapon in her next adventure.

So, does this mean that the alternate reality Loki will become worthy to lift the legendary hammer? We wouldn’t rule it out, but we won’t know for sure until the Loki show comes to Disney Plus in the Spring of 2021. After that, Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to hit theaters on November 5th of the same year.
