Disney Reportedly Struggling To Figure Out How To Bring Deadpool Into The MCU

We've known for some time that Disney is planning to fold Deadpool into their existing catalog of franchises and properties, but we aren't entirely sure how they plan to accomplish this. Ever since the House of Mouse acquired 21st Century Fox, superhero fans from all over have been wondering the same thing. After all, the Merc with a Mouth has proven to be wildly successful by cultivating a rather passionate adult fanbase, and his first two movies have made too much money to be simply ignored.

As we previously heard during the company’s recent earnings call for the past quarter, it looks like Disney is trying to figure out how exactly they should integrate Deadpool into the MCU. Now, we’re hearing additional information from Variety‘s Brett Lang, who first broke the news on the company’s struggle to find a place for the loudmouthed character. According to him, the studio is having trouble coming up with a way to seamlessly go back and forth between future Avengers movies and “bloody, profane stand-alone adventures.”

It’s a tricky situation, to be sure, and we’re curious to see how Disney plans to strike a balance between violent and graphic R-rated films and the more family-friendly movies. Deadpool and its sequel are known for their irreverent tone as well as for breaking the fourth wall but personally, I’d be surprised if those trademark styles make their way into an Avengers film proper.

That being said, it looks like we’ll have to be patient, as Deadpool wasn’t even mentioned during Marvel Studios’ unveiling of the MCU’s fourth phase. Chances are, we’ll have to wait a few years before we see Wade Wilson battling alongside Doctor Strange and Spider-Man. But rest assured, he’ll make his way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe eventually.
