Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man Fans Want Marvel To Make Night Monkey Movie To Spite Sony

Unsurprisingly, Spider-Man fans aren't too happy about the character's sudden departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

If you’re a Spider-Man or Marvel fan (or both), chances are the last 24 hours have been a whirlwind of emotions for you. Just yesterday, news broke that Disney and Sony Pictures couldn’t come to a financing and production deal on future films, and as a result, parted ways. This means until we hear otherwise, the current incarnation of Spider-Man is no longer part of the MCU.

This revelation came as a shock to everyone, and although Sony is still working on two more films with Tom Holland, it’s not entirely clear how the character will move on without Happy Hogan, Nick Fury and the Avengers he’s fought alongside in the past. Unsurprisingly, fans are not happy about this development and have taken to nearly every social media platform in existence in order to voice their complaints and opinions.

As you can imagine, plenty of memes popped up since news of the Sony/Marvel breakup, and one, in particular, is centered around a rather hilarious suggestion of how Disney could continue producing Spider-Man films. Those who have already seen Far From Home will probably be familiar with Night Monkey, the so-called European superhero Peter Parker conjured up in order to convince news agencies that Spidey was not fighting crime around Europe.

Now, some fans are jokingly suggesting that Marvel should make movies starring the Night Monkey, the joke being that Sony wouldn’t own the rights to this alter ego/pseudonym. We’ve gone ahead and compiled a few of our favorite social media posts for your reading pleasure below.

Of course, this won’t be happening in the slightest, but if Disney did decide to go that route one day, at least Tom Holland would finally be able to make use of his native British accent.
